My Story (Assignment 3A)

While I was an underclassmen in high school, I sold Sour Punch Straws for $3 each. I used to buy the 24-pack for $48, and within a month I would have made $24. I would never lose inventory, nor consume it for myself. This was a great way to make a little money on the side, while also get people to know who I am.

I joined ENT3003 because I heard the class was easy. I am graduating this semester, but I need to take 18 credits. So, I wanted to take as many easy classes as possible to satisfy whatever criteria I needed met.

  1. I enjoyed reading your entrepreneurship story, as I found your business of selling sour punch straws impressive and a great way of making money. It's great to see that you never lost inventory each month, showing just how successful the business was. I agree that a successful business is a great way to both make profit and get to know others.

  2. Very similar to what I did in highschool, but with chocolate mostly and later hot chips as well. It was a great way to make extra cash, but as you mentioned the social part of it was super cool as well. Allowed me to make connections with many people i barley talked too before, and made me more comfortable with interacting with lots of people in a very small amount of time. Might be the reason why I make much more friends now than before I started selling.

  3. Hi Mitchell,

I really enjoyed Sour Punch Straws when I was in middle school. I remember a bunch of people started selling them after they found out that one person was making a lot of money. I really like that you took it as an opportunity to allow people to know who you are. My entrepreneurship story allowed me to be known by others as well.

  4. Mitch, your story reminds me of an idea that I had in highschool, to sell candy to the students at a reasonable price. My school has the most students in high school so I expected business to be booming, but unfortunately there were clubs who had thought the same thing and had disallowed anyone to trample their business because it was their way to fund their activities. I am glad that your business turned out great and I hope you find future success in school as well.
