Everyone described
who uses dishes that need washing have this need. People who don’t know how to
use their dishwasher would also have this need. Household chores in general
that need to get done can get done by this opportunity. I would essentially
become a butler. The real why is related to people simply being lazy and
finding value in conveniently having others do their chores for them.
From the interviews:
I found most people agree that it can be expanded into just butler services. If
I were to maintain the washing dishes aspect, I’d have to have multiple
employees to cover multiple homes. If I were to focus as myself being the sole
employee, marketing my services would be the ultimate goals and initial hurdle.
The who, what, and why described are limited, but for the purpose of starting
the service quickly having a narrow focus is ideal.

ReplyDeleteI found it really interesting that your opportunity involved you actually doing physical labor for your customers, as most of the opportunities that I have read involve producing some sort of product or fixing some type of process, while yours entails just simply performing physical labor for people. I think that it is a great idea as I know many people who struggle with washing their own dishes and just leave their dishes in the sink until finally it gets too crowded and they are forced to clean them.

ReplyDeleteI thought this opportunity was really interesting because I have a dishwasher but I don't use it, and I actually don't know how to use it. Personally, I don't have the need for it because I like to clean my dishes right away when I'm done with them. However, I've been to my friends' places and they always have dishes piled up. So I think cleaning services would work for college students who are lazy.
Cool idea. Your perfect customer would probably be in the middle class to wealthy population. Although I could see a cheap house cleaning service working for college students as well. You will definitely have to do good background checks on who you hire though. One accusation of theift can do alot a good amount of harm to your reputation.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that there is a need for cleaning appliances among the community, however I do thing that the cleaning service you are proposing should have more options. I personally have a cleaning lady that comes once a month that cleans all the rooms and bathrooms and I wouldn't mind paying extra for her to clean the dishes as well.
