Ray Kroc (13A)

1      The method for which Ray Kroc actually took over the company was very surprising. It was almost a hostile takeover. I admired his constant grind. Ray always strived to be successful, and when the opportunity arisen to be a part of McDonalds he jumped at it. He was unfortunately only every focused on personal success and not the betterment of his partners. Ray Kroc has always encountered adversity, and he simply listened to motivational speeches to keep him striving for success.
2      Ray Kroc exhibited extreme perseverance, hard work, salesmanship, and opportunity identification.
3      I didn’t find anything really confusing. The writing was straightforward and his motivations were pretty clear.
4      What about McDonalds stood as a potential for massive success that all his other business ventures didn’t express? Do you regret not including the McDonalds brothers in the operations of the company? I’m asking this because I want to be better at identifying good opportunities. I ask the second questions because I am genuinely curious.
5      He definitely saw hard work as a necessity for success. I think smart work is more important, but hard work needs to be a key aspect of your life at some point if you want to be successful.

  1. Ray Kroc was truly a unique character in the business world at that time. I do agree that he was hostile at times especially with the McDonald's case, however his tactics of acquiring the chain restaurant is equally surprising to me. I also the find the questions you want to ask him interesting and worth learning due to his reputable skills to spot opportunity.

  2. Hi Mitch,

I think it's important to include your partners in your journey of growth and success. I understand that the business world is very cutthroat because of people like Ray Kroc. In the business world, people can betray you or just think about their personal success. However, I think it is really important to be a team player.

  3. This seems like it was a very interesting read. It's always fun to see the duality of a person's success. I'm sure in some people's eyes his legacy is tarnished by how cold of a person he appeared to be. However, to others they may see it as a admired ability in the world of business. Makes you think about how you want your legacy to be perceived when you are done.
